Hi, I’m Nicola, the Nic in HandKnics!

I started HandKnics in 2015 as an outlet for all my handknitting. I’ve been handknitting for over 35 years and I love the creativity that comes with designing and making baby clothes and hats - you really can make them bright and fun!

My favourite things to make are vintage inspired due to their construction methods and style. Everyone looks so glamorous in vintage style (even wee ones).

I am based in East Lothian, Scotland and my studio is often in my garden, when the Scottish weather permits! I frequently use the colours of plants and flowers growing in my garden as inspiration for my designs.

If you’re looking for handknits and would like something special made, I’ll work with you to make sure the item is exactly what you are looking for. I use a variety of yarns in my handknits such as wool, acrylic, cotton, bamboo and alpaca, to name just a few, so all tastes can be catered for. I especially love working with bright and bold colours that really make a statement!
